I have been potting away in my home work space since the start of 2019. I had been looking for a creative outlet for a long time and clay just felt right from the moment I bought my first bag. Although ceramics can require some big financial commitments, I love that for the price of a visit to a coffee shop, anyone can access a bag of clay and use their hands to get creative. No expensive tools needed. I pretty quickly got the bug and found a second hand kick-wheel on eBay. No looking back.
I did go to Leeds College of Art and Design many (many) years ago, specialising in 3D design. We did a short ceramics module as part of this course and I remembered the basics from the little bit of hand building that we did.
I have spent the last few years challenging myself and improving my skills, soaking up knowledge from other potters that I've found online. There is really no substitute though, for just getting stuck in and learning from your own mistakes.
Although there is something to love about using a kick wheel; standing up and powering the motion of the wheel yourself, by kicking a pedal back and forth, when the opportunity came up to buy an electric, sit-down wheel, I took it! Though I had to re-learn how to throw all over again.
I have really enjoyed challenging myself to throw bigger and better, new shapes, closed forms and multi-part pieces. Pottery is equally challenging and rewarding and after so many years feeling like I didn't know what I wanted to be "when I grow up", I feel like I might just have found something.
I hope you enjoy using my pottery as much as I have enjoyed making it.

I currently use an off-white, smooth stoneware clay.
Yes! All of my work is dishwasher safe.
I would, however, always recommend that you carefully hand wash my pottery to prolong its life. In particular, pieces that have large unglazed areas (such as large plates) may take on a lot of water in the dishwasher and therefore may need longer to dry out fully.
Whilst you may be able to put my pottery in the microwave for short bursts I do not recommend it as the glazed surfaces will become very hot.
I have not tested my pottery in the oven. It is not designed to be used as cookware. Therefore, no, you should not use it in the oven.
I sell my work in person at craft fairs in and around South Yorkshire/North Derbyshire. Details of when and where I’ll be this year can be found here.
I also sell my work online via Etsy, or you can get in touch with me directly.
I may not always have my work listed online and so please do just get in touch with me directly to check availability or to request that I make something for you.
If you believe that something you have bought from me has a design flaw making it unusable then please get back in touch with me to discuss it.
I love to make pottery that can be enjoyed and used every day and so if this is not the case (as a result of my making process) then I will do my best to rectify the problem.
